UN Sustainable Development Goals

IUPUI's vision is to be a leading urban research institution recognized for the success of its students, its advances in health and life sciences, and its intellectual, economic, and cultural contributions to the well-being of the citizens of Indianapolis, the state of Indiana, and beyond. In fulfilling that vision, our efforts must be nested in addressing the most challenging problems of our time.  The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a compelling framework by which IUPUI can live its vision on campus, in our local community, and beyond.

The SDGs are a universal call-to-action to end poverty, protect the planet, and improve the lives and prospects of people across the globe.  We must work cooperatively to achieve meaningful progress.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

What are the SDGs?

"The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests."
